About Me

I received my Masters in Social Work (MSW) from UNC Chapel Hill in 2010 and completed internships at Central Regional Hospital, a state psychiatric hospital, in Butner and at Aging Family Services (now LifeLinks), a guardianship and geriatric care management firm in Raleigh. After graduation, I spent four years working as a guardian of the person for Aging Family Services and gained extensive experience working with older adults and other clients in many settings: single-family homes, apartments, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and psychiatric inpatient settings. In 2014, I worked with Duke Hospice and deepened my experience with grief, loss, and physical illness. In 2018, in addition to my private practice, I worked part-time at the student counseling center of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

These experiences led me to a counseling/psychotherapy private practice where I am putting my skills, experience, and knowledge to work helping adults who are dealing with difficult life transitions, stress, and emotional distress through mindfulness-based psychotherapies. I also use my expertise to provide guidance to family members in need of geriatric care consulting.

I bring other life experiences and education to my private practice including having a PhD in Economics from UC Berkeley and having taught several years at Occidental College in Los Angeles. I have also worked as a public health researcher at UNC Chapel Hill. The overarching aim in my life’s work is to understand how people of all ages can live better lives. With this private practice I seek to use that understanding to directly help you live that better life.
